Program Description

Event Details

Immigration is one of the lightening rod talking points this season. Voices of Immigration: Muskegon's Story will offer you a chance not only to hear the sociological/academic perspective on the driving forces for global immigration, but also to hear voices of our Muskegon County neighbors who have lived experience with immigration in various forms. Once the context is laid for how/why immigration happens and the trends in Muskegon County, attendees will be divided into small groups who will have conversations with individuals who are immigrants to Muskegon County.  Their stories will offer you insight into the various forms of immigration and connect you with neighbors you may not otherwise come in contact with.  Bring your questions--they are open books!  Registration required.

MADL is grateful to Read Muskegon and Latinos Working for the Future and Muskegon Community College for their help in creating this event.

This is a Big Read Lakeshore Program, inspired the 2024 selected books:  DreamersMexiKid, and The Great Gatsby
