Join Amber Chaffee from Military History 101 for a fascinating journey into the world of lighter-than-air travel! This program will explore the history of the dirigible airship, also known as a zeppelin, from its early conception in the 19th century to its golden age in the 1920s and 30s. We'll explore the luxurious passenger experience offered by dirigibles like the Hindenburg, a symbol of elegance and transatlantic travel at the time. The Hindenburg disaster of 1937 will also be examined, including the causes of the accident and its lasting impact on the history of air travel. Artifacts from a trip on the Hindenburg, made available by a local community member, will also be featured. Registration required.
